2024 Winners - Abbey Andrieuux & Greg Davis

7th JEMEC Open Pairs Tournament

The 2022 winning pair of Abbey Andrieux and Greg Davis (Sun BC) were victorious last weekend at the 2024 JEMEC open pairs tournament. The two days of competition were played in bright sunshine at hosts St Saviour’s bowls club with 25 teams competing in groups on Saturday to decide the final 16 who progressed to the knockout stage held on Sunday. The remaining teams played in the plate competition.

The final on Sunday afternoon was the climax of two full days of games and with last year’s runners up Taylor and Lindsey Greechan (St Saviour BC) pushing Abbey and Greg all the way in a tight, high quality final played over 14 ends. The home pair won 7 of the first 9 ends but were held to one shot on nearly every end.

The eighth end saw the pair from the Sun pick up four shots from a very tight head and the game was tied at 8 all after 10 ends. Abbey and Taylor maintained their solid lead bowls with the skips (Lindsey and Greg) enthralling the spectators with a fine display of how to play with controlled weight. The winners took the last four ends to come out with 14 shots to the Greechan’s 8.

Once again the final had thrilled the spectators and lived up to expectations. St Saviour’s bowls club President Brian Bisson made the presentations thanking JEMEC for their continued support of the tournament and all the club members who’d worked tirelessly to make the event a success.
